cutting to the new century

At the house of Trussardi Spring Summer 2010 Mens, their were a few blazers that had a short cut sleeve. Folded button down long sleeve to accent the short cut blazer. I think this is a new revolution of the upcoming new century. Still dressy with ease and not constricted.

...a breath of fresh air

The moment I saw this poncho dress in the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2006 collection, I just fell in love with it. It's very different and has a modernity to it. Color palette of the cream, ivory, & beige just makes it look flawless. Thanks to Marc Jacobs for reinventing a poncho to a sexy yet chic dress. Love the details of the white ropes over the shoulder with the long fringes. Who would of thought of taking a traditional piece and making it womanly chic.

Tweed is back!

The classic Chanel jacket with pastel fabric fringes framing the jacket gave it a refreshing moment. Classic with an edge. Isabeli Fontana my personal favorite model graced the cover of French Vogue November 2009. Their was an African theme to the editorial looks from head wraps, body painting, & african accessories all combined with classic looks for this season.

the new decade of a "dress shirt"

Cerruti Spring Summer 2010 collection was all about taking a basic look and interpreting it to a new look. My personal favorite was the newly "dress shirt". It was loosely fit but still lightly snugged. Instead of a full long sleeve, it was a quarter length sleeve cut for a modern finish. A smaller and structured collar that was button up. I would add accessories such as fitted dark tobacco brown leather driving gloves or a mink fur scarf worn around the neck to give it more of that richer chic look.

Sophie is made for beauty...

Sophie Ellis Bextor is one extraordinary women that is made for beauty. Her hit song in 2001, "Murder on the dance-floor" was the it factor. I just love her music and how sophisticated she is. I am spellbound by her flawlessness in this photograph. The makeup is just spellbinding. Beautiful bone structure, sensual lips, & her luscious short black hair. Though blondes may have more fun but brunettes are mysterious, classy & chic.

The power of "Royal Blue"

Royal blue is such a bold festive color. It's a color that compliments any look as long as it's worn right. I think it goes really well with white & black or any color that balances the two. Here are some outfits that I am just dying to have for this Fall.

"The gloves are off!"

I am such a big fan of leather driving gloves. Especially the fitted ones that are very snug to the hands. It just gives an illusion of country with an ultra chic manner. You can't go wrong with them with any outfit. It's also about having sexy hands as well!

The little "cut out" black dress

Donatella Versace is so clever when it comes to womanly sexy. Keeping it classy without showing too much. I like the fact it's a fitted long sleeve pencil length skirt dress. I think the cut outs gives a sex appeal in a humble way without being vulgar. Absolutely for the woman that isn't scared of her body and dares to be known.

hold me tight

Prada always amazes me with something new each time. This time, the Prada logo buckle belt with the wood lines details is such a genuine statement. Giving it a modern yet vintage feel. Can't deny the exquisite hand crafted medium brown woven leather.

We will & always rise above

It makes me proud to see an ethnic women being the face for a beauty campaign just like Ujwalla Raut, the face for Yves Saint Laurent makeup. Not a lot of ethnic models are chosen to have a spotlight moment in a makeup campaign. It's so important to prove that being ethnic is beautiful too.

CHAIN ME DOWN!

Michael Kors Fall Winter 2009 presented this big chunky chain necklace in three colors: Gold, Silver, & Onyx Black. Extremely bold and avant-garde. Only the brave fashion diva's could pull off this chain necklace look.

holding on...

I am infatuated with this gorgeous unisex leather light tan handbag. Sophisticated and sleek for the modern man and women. It can be used for casual or as a weekend accessory.

Strip of Flesh

It's all about subtle sexy. Vertical slash cut through a turtleneck short fitted dress gives an illusion of mystery. Perfect with a black smokey eye and a messy french twist just to add a little dark side. The right look to wear without trying to be sexy.

sharply sleek

Satin platform pumps are always a timeless touch to a floral print full skirt or to black opaque pantyhose. The structure to these heels are very architectural and clean lines. Giving them more of a modern take to any look.

making space for Liya

I wanted to start the beginning of this month December of a reflection of one of my favorite top model Liya Kebede that graced the cover of Italian Vogue October 2002. Not only is she a supermodel, she's a humanitarian and a goodwill ambassador. She is an inspiration to all colored women & men that anything is possible. Thank you Liya!
